Originally a community centre for a mixed farming district, Grimshaw was surveyed and subsequently developed as a railway stop to access northern markets. It soon became a focal point where early settlers did the shopping and from where they shipped their surplus farm products. In 1930, Grimshaw was incorporated as a Hamlet. Incorporation as a Town followed in 1953. The Grimshaw & District Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest in the province, being founded in the 1930s.
Grimshaw is strategically located as a distribution point for the entire North. The local resources are wheat and coarse grains, forage crops, sand and gravel, fish, fur, lumber, and oil and gas.
Our Chamber has members from all of these industries, as well as numerous non-profit organizations and retail businesses, highlighting the area's rich and diverse economic landscape in such a remote area.
